Grade RR–11 · Hibberdene
Hibberdene Academy
One school community, from Grade RR right through high school — an independent school in Hibberdene for learners from their very first day to Grade 11, part of the Wesbury Schools group on the KZN South Coast.
Small-school warmth, teachers who know every child by name, and a CAPS education that builds year on year.
Why choose Hibberdene Academy?
- One school, years of continuity. Start in Grade RR and move up through the grades with teachers who've known your child for years — no stressful school changes in the foundation years.
- Every child known, every child valued. Small-school warmth is the whole point here: your child isn't a number in a corridor.
- CAPS curriculum throughout. The national pathway, taught with care from Grade R to Grade 11, and subject choices ahead in Grade 10.
- The group behind it. When high school milestones like Matric arrive, learners continue across the Wesbury group at Wesbury College of Science or Port Shepstone International High School, and the admissions team handles the transition.
Learning at Hibberdene Academy
The foundation years set the tone for everything that follows. Here, children learn to read, count, question and create in classrooms where confidence grows alongside marks, and where a bad day gets encouragement, not a label. As learners move up, the same care carries through: homework habits, subject understanding, and the quiet self-belief that says "I can do this."
Subject pathways from Grade 10
From Grade 10, senior learners choose the subject package that fits where they're heading:
| Path | Subjects |
|---|---|
| Science path | Mathematics · Physical Science · Geography · Life Sciences · Life Orientation |
| Business path | Mathematical Literacy · Economics · Business Studies or CAT¹ · Life Sciences · Life Orientation |
¹ CAT = Computer Applications Technology.
The Science path keeps the university-gateway subjects open (Maths + Physical Science, with Geography alongside). The Business path builds strong commercial and real-world skills, with the choice of Business Studies or Computer Applications Technology. Either way, learners finish Grade 11 ready for their next step — and learners continuing to Matric do so across the Wesbury group at Wesbury College of Science or Port Shepstone International High School, with subject choice guidance along the way.
